Drawing with doors

I used hand made Indian paper for this drawing and collaged tracing paper doors onto it. This is a further work made after recent reports of serious flooding here in the UK and worldwide. I witnessed the after effects of a terrifying flood in Devon at age 5. I’ll never forget looking out to sea on a family holiday and instead of blue all we could see was a black line on the horizon. As we stared horrified it gradually turned out to be peoples furniture washing in with the tide. Wardrobes tables chairs etc, not only had people lost their homes but many lost their lives as well.
