A Long Way from the Bathroom 4
Made from polyester resin this sculpture is part of a series of four this being the final part. It is a semi-clear cast piece taken from the second work in the series. This was a large number of long wooden joists that were laid on the floor then bolted together tightly. The whole shape resembled an enormous splinter.
On the surface I drew a large circle then chiselled it out by hand so that it formed a hollow concave circular shape. Into this we made the resin casting in layers. It was lifted out in one piece and looks best with light shining through it.
